New Beginning

Hello April!  I sure wish spring would show up!  It's been cold and rainy, and we even had to postpone our neighborhood Easter egg hunt because of the rain, everyone's lawn is soaking wet.  Sigh. Even though it doesn't feel very springy outside, I created this page featuring my husband and my son who just learned how to ride his bike sans training wheels.  My husband took him down to the island for a long weekend last month and he was off and riding within 15 minutes of starting. Yet another milestone, and yet another new beginning for him. I used this month's DCWV stack-a-holic sketch challenge sketch. It's from the amazing designer Susan Stringfield.  It's been a while since I played with one of her sketches and it was as fun as it's ever been. The paper is from DCWV's new stack Sunday Afternoon.  This is one of their new releases and you can find it at your local Michael's.  I was happy to find some paper that although it has quite a bit of pink throughout, I can still make it work for a page for my guys.

It's A Girl! . . . Baby Shower on the Horizon

My sister asked me to make her a card for a baby shower she is attending soon.  I didn't have a lot of time, so I quickly found a file in the Silhouette store.  The paper you see is from My Mind's Eye, a combination of one of their Valentine's Day packs, and Lost and Found II.  I am almost through both of these packs of paper and I'm pretty daggone proud I have used as much of it as I have.

Case This Sketch No. 20 and Cas-ual Fridays No. 95

I can't remember the last time I played at a card challenge.  I've been done with DT projects for a while now so I thought I would try my hand at a few challenges today.  Case This Sketch challenge is a sketch challenge (my favorite) and this week's Cas-ual Friday challenge it to make a CAS card without stamping. That's fairly easy for me to do as I can just print and cut any sentiment that I would like to add.  This is what I came up with.

It's a Whimsical World

I am still playing around with my new DCWV stacks.  This one is called Whimsical World and it is gorgeous.  Love the bright pinks, greens, and there are a few cute reds as well.  The pattern on this paper was so cute it just needed a little embellishment.  A cute stamp, and the leftover circles from the card below.  I also used one of the new Cuttlebug embossing strips.  Love these, and I'm going to be using them as much as possible.

Dayna Sabrina - You Are Here

For my project I decided to make a springtime note card set featuring the Chickadee stack, one of my absolute favorites of DCWV's spring releases.  These little babies are 3 x 3 and fit nicely in this little box.  They are perfect when you need a card in a pinch.

Be sure to visit all the projects featured this week and leave a comment for your chance to win!  We will be giving away both the My Sunshine and Chickadee stacks to 2 lucky readers, and one amazing package of Tombow Adhesive including NEW Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive, NEW Stamp Runner, Dot Pattern Adhesive,  MONO Multi Liquid Glue, NEW Power Tabs and MONO Glue Stick, 0.77 oz to one other lucky reader!  The more you comment, the more chances you have to win!

Now, head on over to Hilde's blog to see what kind of spring craftiness they have in store!

Dust Devils Move It Move It!

A good friend of mine has a daughter who plays softball.  Every year they have a contest for the best team banner and the prize is nothing to sneeze at - it's a sizable amount of money for the team's end of the season party.  My friend is fairly crafty and incredibly competitive so she jumped into this one with both feet.  I helped a bit with the design and lots of the cutting and there you have it.  This is the banner and it's great if I do say so myself.  In case you're wondering - yes, it won!

We used DCWV's Tie Dye 2 paper, laminated it, and set them on action wobbles so not only is the banner really cute - it's interactive!

This was totally outside of my wheelhouse and because of that a lot of fun.  I am sure the girls are going to enjoy the year end party like never before!

Randomness . . . Featuring DCWV's Violet Leaf

I am on a card making binge.  Truthfully, that's where my heart has been for some time now.  I still do other things, but I love cards.  Maybe because it's the quick turnaround, or the fact that I can make someone smile with something my hands made.  I don't know, but I always try to be true to the directions my hobby is leading me in and right now it's cards, cards, cards.

I pulled out DCWV's new Violet Leaf stack.  This one comes in several versions.  The 12 x 12 is available at JoAnns, and you can find a 6x6 (doublesided no less) at Michaels.  There is also a scalloped edged doubled sided matstack at Michaels.  So when I was making these cards which one did I use?  All three actually.

Peace . . . Be Unto You Card Set

I'm still playing around with Tie Dye 2.  I came up with this one last night and decided to make some duplicates because I think it can be customized for different occasions pretty easily with an inside sentiment.

Hello There Chickadee!

And the cards keep coming.  I made this one using DCWV's brand new Chickadee stack that should be out at Michaels.  This is a new type of stack for DCWV - it's 6 x 12, it has a decorate edge and it is double sided.  Uh huh, just what you've always wanted.  I am a huge fan of these 6 x 12 stacks and new mat stacks.  This card was so simple to make I used the decorate edge for the base and cut the rest of the shapes out of spellbinders dies.

The stamp is from Technique Tuesday and the embossing folder is from Lifestyle Crafts.  This ribbon is one that Brandy just bought for me recently.  I have actually used it all up between two projects already.  That never happens!

And one more card from Chickadee - as you can see I really adore this stack!
