Take What You Need Shakers

My sister asked me to make her some additional Take What You Need cards.  Interestingly enough, I had already started some for her.  They are, of course, shakers.

Take What You Need Take No. 3 - Redux - Plus a Card Box that I Adore!

Is the title confusing?  I imagine it is.  I put together this card for the Cameo Spotlight challenge a few weeks ago.  I wasn't totally 100% happy with it (that's what happens when you're pressed for time occasionally)  and I had also intended it to be a part of a card set.  I got as far as cutting out all of the frames and mats but then had to move on to something else.  So, today I decided to revisit this project and see if I couldn't make something that appeals to me a bit more.

Also, as many of you know, I am nutty about Pinterest.  I came across this post the other night and thought - YES! That's the box I need for my cards.  Turns out this lovely lady wrote up a tutorial and I set my sights on creating a file for the box in the Silhouette studio.  Now I've never attempted anything like this before, but I wanted this box so much I was determined.  I used the wonderful image she posted along with the measurements (I had to convert cm to inches though!) and I was able to pull it off.  I even edited points in the Studio software.  First time ever!  I also want to thank Google translator because I forgot to I mention her blog is in Italian!
Okay, enough jabbering, here they are:

Isn't this box adorable?  Here is a picture of it on my cutting mat.  I used the perforation marks in the Studio so there is absolutely no scoring! Just a few folds, some adhesive on the flaps and this baby is done!  The only downside is that because of it's size I had to use my 12 x 24 mat and also 12 x 24 paper (the box is approximately 15" wide).

I think I am going to spend some time breaking this up into two images that can be attached.  That way I can use any 12 x 12 cardstock that I happen to have (or want) to use.  I am happily sharing this file (as is - I haven't worked out the 12 x 12 version yet).  If you want to download it - click on the following link to my Public DropBox folder.  You will see the file - right click on it and then you can do a "save as" to the location of your choice on your computer.  I only ask that you don't share the file, please link back to this post if you know someone is interested, and hey - I want to see what you create with it!  Please send me your links and/or pics of your file boxes!

ETA:  I have finally reworked this box and it's now available in a version that uses one piece of 12 x 12 cardstock.  You can find that file on this post - The Best Is Yet To Come.

Recipe:
Paper:  Recollections Kraft, Coordinations, AC Cardstock (black) and Bazzil (white)
Silhouette:  card box (hooray!), all shapes and print & cut polariod frame
Embossing Folders:  Sixxix, The Paper Studio, Cuttlebug
Spellbinders:  Tags on front of box
Wood embellishments:  Studio Calico

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy the file!

The Cameo Spotlight #5 . . . Take What You Need Take #3

Hey everyone, this is going to be a real short post as I am late for the the autism conference I am attending today.  There is never enough time!  This week's Cameo Spotlight challenge is a color theme challenge.  I decided to incoprorate those colors using my favorite word cloud generator (Tagxedo) for another round of my Take What You Need cards.  This is actually going to be a card set, but alas, there wasn't enough time to get the entire set assembled today.  I do have one card to show you and here it is!

Don't you love these gorgeous fall colors?  Head on over to the Cameo Spotlight to see what else our great Design Team has put together for you - and hey, play along this week.  This challenge is wide open.

Take What You Need Take No. 2

Not terribly long ago I created this card inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest.  I am still head over heels in love with the concept so I created some quick and easy note cards with this same idea.  I again used my favorite word cloud generator - Tagxedo, and I print and cut the mat using my Cameo.

Years ago I purchased a few pre-made A2 card box sets from DCWV.   In one of my cabinets sat this lovely set of cards.  I'm not sure why I didn't put them to use before now, but I thought they would make a great card base and they do.  This particular set is from the Natural Stack box of cards.

Paper:  DCWV Natural Stack, Natural Stack Box of Cards
Tagxedo:  Word Cloud
Silhouette:  Print & cut word cloud layer and tag
Brads:  My Stash

Card Patterns No. 164

I saw this pin on Pinterest and was really touched by it.  I wanted to make something with this idea, or theme in mind and tonight I settled on a card. This Week's CardPatterns sketch worked fairly well so there you go.  Here is this sketch:

And here is my card:

I created the word cloud using Tagxedo's free word cloud generator and then I imported the jpeg into the Silhouette Studio software and used the weld intersect feature to get it to fit into the rectangle I had already sized for my card.  I printed it on My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose paper and cut it out using the print and cut feature.  It's been a while since I printed on pattern paper and I had forgotten how great it looks.  It truly looks like stamping  and this is paper that you just can't stamp on because of the texture.  I used the same technique for the card's focal point, only I cut it out using a spellbinders die as I wanted to give it a bit more dimension.  A little ribbon, and a three dimensional flower cut out using a Silhouette store shape, and I am calling this baby done.  I really love the idea behind this card, I think there may be some note cards with the same theme in my future.
