Happy Father's Day Layouts

Good morning everyone!  Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers out there including my own.  And because of the special day it is, I have a Father's Day layout to share with you guys.  These are pictures that were taken last year on Father's Day.  Unfortunately I was out of town with my youngest son, but my Dad, my husband and my oldest son got together for a short time that day.  And someone took some really good photos!  These are two layouts that I started a long, long, long time ago that I again got *stuck* on.  Brandy pulled these out the other week and we finished them. Now why are there two of them?  Remember last year when I was scrapbooking in doubles?  Yep, these were a part of that adventure - it's been that long.  So I have an extra one!  I think I'm going to put it in a frame and give it to my Dad when we get together later today.  I'm sure he will appreciate it.

And here is Number Two!

Look at that balloon journaling.  That was like, only the second print and cut I did with my Cameo.  Oh my, have I come a long way since then!

Recipe:
Paper:  DCWV Main Street stack
Cricut Cartridges:  Elegant Edges
Silhouette:  Print and cut journaling

Happy Father's Day 2011 . . . A New Music Room

Today I'm posting pictures from an oldie but a goodie that for some reason I've never posted about.  My husband's Father's Day gift last year was a makeover for his music room.  I wish I had *before* pictures for you, but unfortunately they ended up on some disc that's probably sitting in a landfill by accident.  That, or it is hiding somewhere else in my house.  Anyway, the room is very small, maybe 8 x 10 and this is where he practices for his band's gigs.  The room used to have an old stool, an old coffee table, and everything was just spread out all over the floor.

This is what I came up with.

I took these pictures this morning, so it's been almost a year since he *moved back in*.  As much as I would like to take credit for the beautiful saxophone image on the wall, I can't.  I found it on Etsy.  I can't remember the seller's name but if you search saxophone wall art it may come up if its still available.

Look ma, there's a new stool!  My goal was to keep as much stuff off of the floor as possible, so we put in shelving (as you can see the top shelf is drooping a little, it needs a little repair), and added little bins for him to keep his various things in.  He has a lot of reeds, papers, and well, junk!

I love this table.  It is small, folds out to a desk, and has a wonderful area to store equipment on the bottom.  This is where I actually wanted him to store his saxophones.  That lasted about a week. He just prefers to keep them on the floor in their cases.

I put two mirrors in this room directly across from each other to help the room look bigger.  I wanted to jazz them up a bit though.  The red one was actually copper when I started. I spray painted the metal  with glossy red spray paint.  I think it looks a bit more rock and roll this way.  The other mirror is a Hobby Lobby find.  I love how it mimics a door, and the hooks were exactly what we needed - again, trying to keep things off the floor!

All of the other vinyl work is mine.  The names of his favorite bands are here and there across the room.  I used MTC to trace images I found on the internet, generated shadows and walla!  So, he really loves this room and it was undoubtedly a labor of love.

And last but not least, a lava lamp - a Jimmy Hendrix version no less.  Score!

Happy Father's Day - Mojo Monday No. 244

This is going to be quick post as it's been a long day!  I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch to create my husband's Father's Day Card.  So now I am all caught up, well actually ahead of schedule.  I so appreciate not having to create cards last minute.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

Paper:  Echo Park's Times and Seasons, Stampin' Up

You're A Dapper Dude - Retro Sketches # 14

What do you guys think of mustaches?  I have been watching the trend, and ever so slowly thinking that hey, these are kind of cute.  I even downloaded a set from the Silhouette store a month or so ago and figured I would get around to using them one day.  Well today is that day.   Father's Day is coming up and I have two cards I need to make, one for my Dad, and one for my husband (from our boys).  I knocked my Dad's card out today using the sketch from a new challenge blog - Retro Sketches.  This is my first week with this challenge and I wanted to make something masculine, but fun.  My friend Jackie is one of the creators/design team members and I absolutely adore her style.  Every week she comes up with something fantastic, and she's also a Cameo girl so she's doing something right eh?  Anyway, I truly love how this card turned out.  I hope my Dad likes it too.

I love this card, I really do.  As you can see I am still playing around with the sketch feature in the Silhouette Designer software.  Yes, it's going to be a while before I'm tired of this one.  A note to those who want to try this for fonts - not all fonts work well with this feature, you want a chunkier one, and all caps, or all lowercase looks better in my opinion.  The font I used for this card is Titania.  I am pretty sure it's just one of the fonts that came with my computer, I don't recall downloading it.  I am also entering the card in the Little Scrap Pieces Challenge blog.  This week's challenge is to use embossing.  The black strip behind the mustaches has been embossed with a Provocraft polka dot folder.  So I think this qualifies!

Recipe:
Paper:  Joann's Kraft paper, Stampin' Up, DCWV Glitzy Glitter stack (neutrals)
Silhouette:  Sketch moustaches, moustaches, and sentiment;  regular die cut and print & cut images
Embossing folder:  ProvoCraft 5 x 7 polka dots

For My Daddy

Now that my husband card is finished, I turned my attention to making sure I made something for my Daddy this year.  It's been years since I've actually sent cards regularly but I figure this new found hobby of mine has got to have some practical uses right?

First I want to apologize for the pictures being so dark.  I don't normally photograph my projects in this room but I was in a hurry and a little guy needed my attention.

I used the same paper pack for this card - BoBunny's Timepiece.  This card measures 5" x 7" and I stitched the mats on the front with black embroidery thread.  I cut out my sentiment "Happy Father's Day" using MTC and a TTF font called Adore.  It is cut at 2".  The leaves were cut from my new Spellbinders foliage die and I inked them while they were still in the die with Stampin' Up Wild Wasabi ink.  This is the first time I've used this die and I am really happy with the way it turned out.  You will see it again, and again, and again, just wait!  The flowers are all Prima flowers that I have been hoarding for quite some time.

Inside, I added another Stampin' Up spinner stamp cut out using Spellbinders Lacey circles and its matted on a rectangle cut with Spellbinders large scallop squares that has been inked in Chocolate Chip.  Noticing a theme?  I spent the past two evenings organizing my Spellbinder dies so they are on my mind obviously.  Lol.  I hope my Daddy likes it.

Father's Day Card

In an effort to NOT be last minute, I came up with this cute Father's Day card for my husband today.  I wanted something a bit masculine.  And the BoBunny Timepiece paper collection is perfect.  I picked it up at Archiver's a few weeks ago.

This is a square 5.5" card.  The spinning wheel is from Stampin' Up and stamped in chocolate chip ink.  I cut it out and embossed with my Spellbinders Lacey Circles die.  I used a Spellbinders circle die underneath it.

The #1 Dad is from The Celebrate with Flourish cartridge.  I cut it out at two inches.

The inside stamp is from Papertrey Ink and I cut it out using one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two dies.  I am going to have my boys sign it and I hope my husband likes it!!

ETA:  I finished another Father's Day card - this time for my father, using the same paper pack.  You can see that post here.
