You & Me Shaker

This is a shaker that I will likely use for my next anniversary.  Or maybe for some romantic evening before then.  It's based on this card that I found on Pinterest.  I have owned this infinity symbol for a while and I am thrilled to finally have a use for it.

Love . . .

This is a very quick card I made using a file from the Silhouette store.  I download these things constantly but never seem to make the time to use them.  I have so many more that I might play with over the next few weeks if I get a moment.  This one features paper from one of my favorite DCWV stacks - Neon Chic.

More Valentine's Day with Blue Citrus

I know, I know.  Last two from this stack I promise (for a while that is).  These were quick and easy.  I really just wanted to play with this honeycomb pattern in the Silhouette store and vellum.  The bright colors and dark blues in this stack are perfect for this type of thing.

Valentine's Day Cards featuring DCWV's Blue Citrus

I love this stack.  Blues, blues, blues, blues.  I'm so happy to finally have some really deep pretty blues.  I know traditional Valentine colors are red and pink, but I decided to do something else.  I've got all the hearts and XOXOs, but my cards are blue, blue blue.

This first card is actually a tag that I made into a card.  My youngest sister got shorted on her birthday card this past December as I was way too busy doing tons of things for Christmas.  The plight of the December birthdays right?  Well, she has been patiently waiting for her card - she only texts me once a week or so to let me know that - and I finally finished it.  So it's a Happy Birthday, Happy Valentine's Day card.  I'm sure she will be pleased with it.

This next card is one that I'm going to give to my husband.  I try to come up with something pretty every year and I think he'll really enjoy this one.  The chevron pattern you see is actually a stamp on acetate.  New technique for me that I am really loving.  It opens up so many more possibilities when playing with negative space.

The tag is the same tag I used for my sister's card, only scaled down so it could fit with the card.

And finally, the sentiment.  This one is by Kara Dudley and you can find it in the Silhouette store.  Thanks Sarah!

I made a few more Valentine's Day cards with this stack but I think I'll wait to post them tomorrow.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

More Valentine's Day Goodness

Here they are!  Han Solo frozen in carbonite Valentines.  My oldest son handed these out to the boys in his class today.  I reminded him that girls like Star Wars too, after I was the one who introduced him to the series!  He didn't care though.  The girls got hearts and the boys got Han Solo, which I should be happy with because I had to melt these one at a time.  Please someone talk me off the ledge next year before I begin a twenty hour project forty-eight hours before they are due.

Kids Valentine's Day Crayon Molds

Why oh why didn't I start this project three weeks ago?  I certainly have been thinking of it for at least that long.  I have, for the last several years, been firmly against buying Valentines for my kids to hand out because I have all of this stuff it seems silly not to use it.  Well, of course it does unless you're the one who has to make them.  For a project like this I normally give myself several weeks, but no, there was I was yesterday glued to my oven for most of the day while I melted crayon after crayon, and then in my craft room cutting, cutting, and then assembling.  I even made my youngest write out his name on all of them this morning right before I took him (and his Valentines) to school!  Clearly I'm running behind.

So here they are.  The idea is a complete scraplift from Pinterest.  I wish I could link to the original poster but the pin lead to this flickr account.  Oh well, I tried!  I thought it looked so cute and it would be soooo easy.  Famous last words!

So tonight I get to do it all over again!  Okay, maybe not exactly.  The crayons have ALL been melted.  I just need to make up the cards for my other son's Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite crayon mold.  Stay tuned for that one!

Valentine Day Gifts

I seem to be on a Holiday theme don't I?  Why on Earth would I stop?  Next up are Valentine's Day treats that I designed for my sons' classmates in 2010.  The first set are pillow boxes that I found on the Easter 2010 cartridge.  Using my gypsy, I hid the bunny that was supposed to be the window by using the Hide Selected Contour feature and then I inserted what I thought were a bit more little boy and little girl themes - hearts and an angel with wings for girls, and stars for boys.   I can gender stereotype with the best of them eh?  I filled the pillow boxes with skittles and added a tag that was created for me by Regina at The Cutting Cafe.  I printed the tags on my computer and cut them out with you guessed it, Spellbinders cirlce dies.  Funny that I think about it because I so totally know hot to do that myself now, but at the time I was relying on a lot of others for their expertise.  I think these turned out great!

These are the Valentine Day cards I made for my older son.  His school had a strict "no candy" policy for Valentine's Day.  In many ways I see their point, but I do think that the holidays can be a fun time to get candy.  It's the fact that our kids get it too often that becomes the problem.  Anyway, I digress, I could go on and on about children's nutrition, and I don't want to bore you so instead I'll tell you a little bit more about this project.  I created these Valentine's using the Tags, Bags and Boxes cartridge.   Using my Gypsy, I selected a tag, changed it to the dimensions I wanted, and then also altered a gift card holder to fit the tag.   The tags are decorated with chipboard pieces from a K&Company Valentine set.  I let my son pick out the chipboard pieces and place them on each Valentine where he wanted it to go.  We then glued them in place, and he wrote out his classmates names on each and every one!.

A Few Cards

I've been taking a little time to do some things that are off the beat and path.  I normally work on a specific project, but lately I've been feeling the need to just experiment and create.  With that in mind, I came up with these two cards.

The loop design is one I found on a new cartridge I picked up - Elegant Cakes.  The heart was cut out using Spellbinders dies.  The crimped paper is something I picked up several weeks ago and I am happy to finally have a use for it.  The Bliss and Butterfly stamps are from Stampin' Up.  The patterned paper is from SEI's Chocolot.  I have been seeing these paper flowers for quite some time now and after seeing a tutorial on Capadia's blog I decided to try one.  I am smitten with them and will be making a lot more in the future.

I was fooling around with my new spellbinders dies and one of my newer Stampin' Up stamp sets when I came up with this one.  I think it's perfect for Valentine's Day, or just Lurve in general.  Lol.
