Just a Note - Instagram Inspired Cards

Are you as nutty about Instagram as I am?  It's one of the few social media sites that I really get into.  I love being able to follow people visually.  That said, there are quite a few cute instagram shapes in the Silhouette store.  I was playing around with them this morning, seeing what interesting patterns I could come up with.  I used the sketch feature on these cards, and added a simple "Just a Note" to finish them off.

Butterfly Kisses

I have been experimenting with my Silhouette Designer Studio software welding shapes together.  This card is nothing special or groundbreaking but I do think it turned out pretty nice.

The Last Graduate

I really mean it.  It's another shaped card because I had run out of steam at that point.  So glad to finally get all of these cards completed.

Another Graduate . . . Are we done yet?

Not quite, just a few more, I promise.  This one is for another graduating high school senior.  I pulled out my Papertrey Ink chevron stripes die for the first time and picked papers that matched her school colors.

The stamp is from Verve and I stamped it no less than three times!  The first two times I did it perfectly, only to smudge it during assembly.  Drove me crazy!  So there are a few small smudges on the final one, and I just couldn't bring myself to do over again one.more.time.  Sometimes you just have to call it done.

With Sympathy . . . A Scraplift with a Twist

One of my favorite cardmakers is Laura Bassen.  I saw this card she recently made for the latest Papertrey Ink release on Pinterest and had one of those moments where I wanted to make the exact same thing I loved it so much.

Except that I don't really want to buy this stamp set.  I have too many stamps as it is! My solution was to play around using print and cut on my Silhouette Cameo to see if I could recreate the card.

I think I did a pretty good job and came pretty close.  And best of all it didn't cost me anything!

The Class of 2014

Masculine graduation cards are hard to make.  Well, mascueline cards period.  So, I was tasked with coming up with something for the intern that works at my office who is graduating from high school in a few weeks.  I used the school colors, and kept it fairly simple.  Print and cut helps in that regard, and I gave it a little dimension as well.

Another day, another Graduate

You are going to see quite a few of these cards over the next several days.  It occurred to me this weekend that I have at least four more to make.  Three down, one to go.  Every year it seems I always make one of these graduation cards into a shaped card, and this year is no exception.  This came along very quickly, I think was done in less than an hour.

Hello

More masking, more stamping.  I am trying to play around with stamp sets that I haven't used, or haven't used that much.  I can't help but get a little excited when I can cross another set off my list.

You are Wonderful

Here is a little more stamping goodness I got up to on Mother's Day.  I did a little masking and pulled out a set from Papertrey ink that I have never used.  It was a good day.  I was a card making machine . . .

Happy Mother's Day

I am a few days late in posting these cards, but I wanted everyone to see them nonetheless.  I have been playing with watercolors lately, and while I'm no where near a pro, I am really pleased with how I am coming along.  I recently took a water color for cards class and decided I wanted to try out one of the masking techniques.  Here is the result.

Happy Birthday Card Swap

A few of my good crafty friends and I decided to do a Birthday Card swap.  Mine have lots of layers, and I played with my Silhouette sketch pens a bit.   I made eight total, four in each base color and I am pleased with the final results.  Can't ask for more right?

Okay, just a few more baby cards . . .

What can I say, I was on a roll.  This will hopefully get Brandy off my back for a while!  These cards were inspired by this card that I found on none other than Pinterest. I had to dig for quite a while to find a baby shower worthy stamp!  I swear I never make these things.  Anyway, I was always thrilled to finally use some of these buttons from Pebbles.  They are so darling but I haven't been able to work them into a project yet.  Yes, to using my supplies . . .

Here Comes the Graduate!

My niece is graduating from college today!  Four years in Florida's hot sun and she is calling it done.  I am hopefully not too uncomfortable sitting outdoors for the ceremony today.  I guess that's why they hold these things at 9:00 a.m.  That said, I am very proud of this young lady.  She has accomplished some great things.

It's A Girl Again!

Yep, more baby girl cards.  This one I came up with while playing around with the flourishes I used on my flower modeling paste cards.  It took a minute to come together, but overall I am pleased.

It's A Girl!

And now for the girls!  More embossing of tone on tone cards, but a different take.  Don't you love the combination of pink and brown?  You really can't go wrong with them.  The patterned paper is from one of the DCWV 6 x 12 stacks that were out at Michael's sometime ago.  It's been a while since I've seen them there, I guess that means they sold them all!
