More Papertrey Ink Birthday Cards

For some reason whenever I pull out my Papertrey Ink dies I always reach for my DCWV corrugated paper.  I'm weird like that!  The results are generally good though so I doubt I will stop any time soon.

Here are a few more birthday cards I made that went into my sister's card stash package.  I have to apologize about the brightness of the picture.  I am going to have to start photographing my cards a few hours later in the afternoon.  Clearly I was a bit exuberant in my quest for more light!

Happy Birthday Scribbles

I have wanted these Papertrey Ink scribbles dies for the longest time.  Last week I broke down and just ordered them.  I've been pinning quite a few cards using the stamps and scribbles dies.  This one is a pretty straight scraplift from this card - Pinterest.  Mine is a little more colorful, but the idea is super cute.  These cards will be on their way soon to my big sister.  It's time to replenish her card stash and she made a specific request for birthday cards.

You Are My Sunshine

Happy June everyone!  It's the first day of this glorious month, glorious in that my youngest is celebrating a birthday this month.  Below is another card I made a few weeks ago but just got around to photographing.

You are Wonderful

Here is a little more stamping goodness I got up to on Mother's Day.  I did a little masking and pulled out a set from Papertrey ink that I have never used.  It was a good day.  I was a card making machine . . .

You Are Never Too Old

Verve stamps!  I was on a Verve kick back in the day.  Okay, so back in the day was only like a year or two ago.  Anyhow, these stamps fit perfectly for what I had in mind so there you go.  Pulling out the old stuff, making it work - you like, no?

You Are My (insert awesomeness here)

New Papertrey Ink crafty goodness!  I couldn't resist and it's all Kimberly's fault.  I have been very good at not shopping but a friend MADE me go look at the new releases and then I HAD to have this die, and well, the rest is history.  You know how it is.  Here are a few cards I made playing around with my new stuff.  I am especially thrilled to finally be able to use the corrugated paper that DCWV bestowed upon me when I was a member of their design team.  I adore the bright colors and this die cut through it oh so well.

Happy Birthday . . . Better Late than Never

Every year my sister begins to remind me at least a few weeks ahead of her birthday that she would appreciate her birthday card ON her birthday.  Did that happen this year?  Nope.  I think I am like 0/3 for the past three years.  However, I am earlier than I was last year, which was like, Valentine's Day.  So here it is.  Happy Birthday Tiffany!  It's better late than never!

My First Recital

My youngest started piano about six months ago.  Some days it is easy.  Some days it is hard.  But what is remarkable and wonderful is that after such a short time he has, in the words of his awesome piano teacher/therapist Jessica, "perfect pitch."   Which I am told is no small thing.  So we were thrilled to attend his first recital.  These pictures have been everywhere, Facebook, emailed to family, friends.  So it is no wonder they ended up on a scrapbook page.

And as a result of this FANTASTIC recital I now have TWO boys playing the piano.  Which, let me tell you, is heads above the recorder!

I'm So Grateful and Thankful

New set of cards.  I have so many supplies I have never used and one of my goals of 2014 is to remedy that.  So today I pulled out some dies that I've had for a while but haven't used yet - Thankful and Grateful dies by Papertrey Ink.  I had initially planned on going plain, but as I was getting into it the cards needed a little something so ended up adding ribbon and flowers, all from my stash, thankyouverymuch!

Be gentle, it's my first time playing with paper in what has to be at least a month.  It takes a while to get back into the groove.  Still, I like these and will use them.  Lots of thank you need to be sent out for the wonderful gifts I received over the holidays.

The Mighty Oak

Several months ago I fell head over heals in love with a new Papertrey Ink die set.  I ordered it as soon as it was released and then proceeded to not use it until a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately I've got quite a few of them like that.  I added some patterned paper from Authentique, and did a little embossing with a stampin' up cursive background stamp as well.  I really love how that one turned out.

Today is Your Birthday

Going back into the summertime archives for this one.  I think I was in the mood for something quick.  I saw this shape being featured on the Silhouette blog and thought it would be great for a birthday card.  A little less than an hour later I was done.

The paper from My Mind's Eye's Chalkboard Studio line, embellishments by My Mind's Eye and Freckled Fawn along with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and lastly a stamp from Papertrey Ink.

A Portrait of My Boys

It's only been two and a half weeks right?  Have no fear, I'm still around.  I've been working on a few behind the scenes design team projects, and also just hanging out.  I am finding that I like to craft in spurts.  Sometimes I can't stop for weeks, and then I find I need a break for a few others.  I used to stress over it and posting something here every day but no more.  First and foremost this is a hobby for me, therapy really.  So I need to let it just flow . . .With that said, I have something new and kind of fun to share with you today. I have been quite take with picture displays lately.  I have all sorts of ideas (thanks to Pinterest) on ways to display photos around my home.  This project actually grew out of that.  I plan on making a wall collage of some of pictures of my kids, and I decided to try my hand at decoupage for the first time.   It's not perfect, but I really like it.  I used a bunch of my stash (all the flowers) and even strung those beads myself (thank you DCWV for the Blue Moon beads by the way).  Enough jabbering - here is one of my favorite pictures of my boys.

I used the emboss resist technique to color the back of the paper.  The stamps are from Papertrey Ink.  I first saw the technique here, at the brilliant Laura Bassen's blog - Emboss Resist.

Paper:  DCWV's Art Collage
Silhouette:  LOVE cut out of 12 x 12 photo, butterflies
Stamp:  Papertrey Ink
Flowers:  Recollections Brand and Prima Flowers
Beads:  Blue Moon Beads
Bling:  Recollections Brand
Metal Accents:  My Stash
