What do you guys think of mustaches? I have been watching the trend, and ever so slowly thinking that hey, these are kind of cute. I even downloaded a set from the Silhouette store a month or so ago and figured I would get around to using them one day. Well today is that day. Father's Day is coming up and I have two cards I need to make, one for my Dad, and one for my husband (from our boys). I knocked my Dad's card out today using the sketch from a new challenge blog - Retro Sketches. This is my first week with this challenge and I wanted to make something masculine, but fun. My friend Jackie is one of the creators/design team members and I absolutely adore her style. Every week she comes up with something fantastic, and she's also a Cameo girl so she's doing something right eh? Anyway, I truly love how this card turned out. I hope my Dad likes it too.
I love this card, I really do. As you can see I am still playing around with the sketch feature in the Silhouette Designer software. Yes, it's going to be a while before I'm tired of this one. A note to those who want to try this for fonts - not all fonts work well with this feature, you want a chunkier one, and all caps, or all lowercase looks better in my opinion. The font I used for this card is Titania. I am pretty sure it's just one of the fonts that came with my computer, I don't recall downloading it. I am also entering the card in the Little Scrap Pieces Challenge blog. This week's challenge is to use embossing. The black strip behind the mustaches has been embossed with a Provocraft polka dot folder. So I think this qualifies!
Recipe:
Paper: Joann's Kraft paper, Stampin' Up, DCWV Glitzy Glitter stack (neutrals)
Silhouette: Sketch moustaches, moustaches, and sentiment; regular die cut and print & cut images
Embossing folder: ProvoCraft 5 x 7 polka dots
Thanks for stopping by!
