Summer Sprinkler Fun

I finally got my scrapbooking mojo back!  It's been probably a month at least since I made a page.  I attempted another one a few weeks ago and after struggling with it for a few days I just put it aside.  If I have to force it then it's no fun, and if crafting isn't fun then I don't want to do it!  Yesterday, I pulled out these pictures that my wonderful mother in law took of my oldest son a month or so ago.  She turned on the sprinkers in our backyard and the boys had a great time running back and forth through them.

This layout has a lot of elements, but I prefer full pages to empty ones.  The trees are from Pooh & Friends and Everyday Pop Up Cards.  I inked the edges, and added a bit of ribbon, and a flower made from Flower Shoppe to the larger tree to make it a bit more interesting.

More flower shoppe flowers - the first one blinged out just to make it a bit different.  All three of these flowers are just the quilled flowers without any flower backing.

I used Spellbinders Grand scallop square dies to cut out the journaling block and mat. I also used Spellbinders to cut out the vellum quote and its corresponding mat.

This is my little guy in all his glory!

These pictures were printed as 4 x 4.  I did some trimming, adhered them to white cardstock (which you don't see) and cut the collage out with my Spellbinders grand nestie scallop squares. I wrapped ribbon around the pictures to help frame each one.  This is the first time I've done something like this and I really, really, like the way it turned out.

The pictures are mounted on a circle that I cut out using Elegant Edges and then stitched with black thread.  Splish Splash was cut from H20 three times and layered to create a shadow effect.  Summer, as well as the four flower borders were cut from Gypsy Wanderings.  I added a little bling to each to add some interest.

As much as I love quilling, I do NOT have the patience to quill something like these dragonflies!  I went through my embellishment drawer and there they were!  I often purchase things like this that I think are cute because I know I will find a use for them eventually.  Same with the puffy ladybugs.  I think they are so cute!!

I am going to enter this layout in a few challenges.  This week's challenge over at the Cricut 360 Challenge blog is "refreshing".  What is more refreshing than running through the sprinklers?!  I am also going to enter this one in the Cricut Circle Monthly challenge where we have to create a scene.  I think this is a pretty fun summertime scene.  I've never entered any of the Circle challenges before so I figured, eh, what the heck, it's about time.
